TORQUAY has consolidated its position in the five with a strong 45-point win over Portarlington. The Tigers were lucky in some respects due to the Demons' inaccuracy, with both teams having the same amount of scoring shots.
Torquay took their chances in front of goal with Isaac Baker and Bradley Molloy kicking five and four goals respectively.
David Brown played a great game for Portarlington, as did Mathew Gorski who has been one of the Demons' best this year.
Torquay's better players included Mark Clayton and Michael Fowkes.
The Tigers will be approaching next week's game against as a crunch match and would gain vital confidence from defeating the Coutas next week heading into the finals.
Portarlington face an inspired Ocean Grove on a path to the finals and will find it hard to upend the Grubbers.
