Building news

I’m sure many of you are aware that there has been a huge (if not long overdue) push from a number of our committed members to get a building project started at the Tigers Clubrooms.

We have formed a building committee and they are working hard to finalise a plan that should suit all our needs.

We have negotiated with many of the interested bodies including council, councilors, local politicians of any persuasion (this should be a bipartisan project), as well as other potential sources of funding.

While not wanting to overly slow this process down, we want Torquay Tiger members to have a say, so we hope that many of you get a chance to comment on the plans once we are ready to put them on on display.

Basically we want a viewing verandah upstairs and an extra meeting room, as well as improved facilities downstairs, in particular disabled facilities, womens and gents toilets, better umpire change rooms and plenty of storage capacity.

Also, we are undertaking to renovate the downstairs change rooms, including new tiling and painting.

Some of our volunteers have negotiated donations from Walkers Tiles and Mc Canns Plumbing supplies, and Mitre 10 have kicked in with 60 litres of Dulux and Wattyl paints.

So, hopefully with some more help we will be able to present a clean new look for the start of the season.

Watch this space.

PS the Shire has informed us that they will be sealing the road surrounding the oval in mid-April.
