The fifth week of training took place in less than ideal conditions at the Torquay courts.
To their credit, close to 40 girls turned out for our first training involving an actual ball, netball court and loads of rain.
Kim Whitman, along with other senior coaches, put the girls through their passing skills with a warm up jog and a circuit involving ball work.
With Wayne Nankervis (aka ‘Wal’), our new D Grade coach, encouraging the girls to use their vocals in a most......how do I put it, ‘footy’ fashion, everyone got to know each others names in a very short period of time.
With quite a number of new girls at the club, I’m sure they appreciated the effort.
Heavy rain was a factor at times – one that some hoped would shorten the session and reminding everyone of how the season feels half way through in the middle of winter.....Joy!
After a short final court game and warm down the players were happy to get home, have a shower and warm up.
Another week closer to starting and its looking great for the Torquay Netball Club – coaches, players and committee members have made a fantastic start creating a great atmosphere I’m sure all players are appreciating.
